Halo Stars

The Halo Stars are the stars surrounding the outermost edge of the galaxy. The stars comprising the so-called 'halo' are ancient beyond human reckoning, and are dispersed very thinly across the approximately two hundred thousand light years of the halo's diameter - though some are grouped together in clusters that are ripe for exploration by humanity. The halo is almost entirely unexplored and probably contains few habitable systems.
