Battlefleet and In Service to the Throne (born to lead)

Born on the Firestorm Class Frigate Sirius Avenger of the Battlefleet Calixis. The Rack family are a long line of Naval officers. Absalom's father being the First Officer of the Sirius Avenger. Raised to follow in the footsteps of his forefathers he grew was set off to the training academy at Port Goston at 12 years old. He excelled in classes and was soon assigned to serve as an Ensign aboard the Destroyer 'Farragut's Axe. He spent the next decade serving on that ship rising through the ranks.

As a Midshipman he led a landing party on the feral world of Fedrid during which he proved himself adept at survival in hostile environs. A year later he was part of a landing party send to escort and Inquistion party to the surface of Sleef to investigate the Warp vibrations reported on the planet. An incursion by demons caused the senior officers to be killed and it fell upon Absalom to take command and ensure his party made if off world. Although half the landing party were lost in the fight he managed to lead the others and several of te Inquisition agents back to the Farragut's Axe and was decorated and promoted with the backing of the Inquisitor.

Ship Lore

Absalom was serving as the Master at Arms of the Farragut's Axe a couple of years later when it was assigned to hunt down the rumours of a pirate station referred to as Stilicho. Ambushed by Chaos Reavers on the fringes of the Josian Reach the Farragut was heavily damaged leaving Absalom as the senior officer on the bridge. Taking command he was able to turn the tables on two of the Chaos Raider vessels hulking both before the Farragut was in turn hulked by the remaining Raider. A fierce boarding action was also fought off but the reavers withdraw and the Farragut was left the drift, dead in space. Absalom what he could to ensure that some of the crew survived until they were rescued three months later by another Naval Vessel on patrol in the area.

Motivation and Lineage

Renown and Of Extensive Means (far reaching contacts)

Following the loss of the Farragut's Axe Absalom faced a Board of Inquiry as he senior officer left alive. However once again the intervention of the Inquisitor managed to not only save his career but advanced it. At the request of the Ordo Xenos he was instead assigned to command an Escort Vessel seconded to the Ordo Xenos. Eager finally for an official command of his own he accepted the post. For the next few years he and his ship travelled the Calixis Sector and crossed the Maw on a few occasions. Rumour has it that he was transporting Inquisition teams perhaps even Deathwatch Killteams to their mission objectives. If these rumours are true then it seems certain that Absalom would have made extensive contacts within the Inquisition and the Deathwatch.
